Augusto S. Cavalcanti
CEO
Founding Partner

Prior to establishing Daitan Labs, he held the position of Bell Labs Brazil Vice-President, being responsible for all Lucent Technologies Research and Development activities in Brazil, for Wireline and Wireless products.

In 1987 he founded a Telecommunications Entrepreneurial System to address the small-to-medium Switching market in Brazil. At the time of acquisition by Lucent in 1999, the Zetax Entrepreneurial System encompassed 10 companies distributed throughout the country, had achieved a market share of around 30% and recognition for the fast time-to-market and unique technology it developed.

After acquisition, Augusto was responsible for integrating his team into Lucent Bell Labs' R&D community. He successfully merged the characteristics of a small company with that of Lucent, taking advantage of the best values of both worlds. After a few years into Bell Labs, the Brazilian R&D team was recognized as a solid, dependable asset for the company, and received many compliments as "business-oriented" and "can-do-attitude" R&D as well as “Reaching New Heights” awards in Architecture Solutions and R&D Management. Under his leadership, the Brazil R&D Team created many new products as well as new niches of opportunities for the company.

As a member of System Architecture Review Board (SARB), Augusto evaluated and reviewed many Lucent projects from the point of view of architecture, strategy and management.

Augusto has graduation in Electronics Engineering, from Unicamp University, Campinas/Brazil; and specialization in telecommunications equipment, from Ceselec in Paris, France.
